Time to have a little whine and a moan

Why can't yarn houses sell a good, solid purple?! Whyyyyyyyy?!!!

I don't have my camera to hand, (unfortunately), so I can't show you the purples that I've ordered from online, and compare how they actually look in the skien.

Online, the purples are either very deep (like Phildar's purple in their bamboo yarn) or very bright (like Brown Sheep's Fleece Yarn for 'raging purple'.

Only, when I get my yarn it's the blandest mid tint of purple that I've ever seen.

Can anyone give recs for a good and deep purple/eggplant/auberginey yarn? I'm too dark to be wearing midtint purple.

Thank ye. Preferably in 4ply or dk.

All your friends have had to make heavy investments in hairdye to cover the grey they developed while you were knitting Loll!

But it was worth it..

I ordered "grape" in knitpicks sierra and was satisfied. Unfortunately, I think it may not be rich enough for what you're looking for and I believe it is discontinued. I will look around the stash to see if I have another purple. It is one of my favorite colors too. :)

There is an eggplanty color in a Plymouth yarn. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly what it is, except that it is worsted and is an alpaca or alpaca blend and it has a little glitz in it. I don't like that color, but it was very noticeable to me because there were several colors in this line of yarns and only one or two had the glitz metallic stuff in it. My friend bought some and made her mother a shawl.
